Handle (screen) phone calls BEFORE they get to the CPAs.
For example, if a client calls to know what their tax return due date is, you should be able to handle that.

From time to time you will need to meet with a client to take the work in.
...Tax and accounting work
Each tax return has certain steps that need to be completed to get the work done.
Some are clerical in nature and some are professional in nature.
You need to be able to do the steps that fall in between clerical and professional.
Proposing an adjusting journal entry
You need to be able to interact with people via phone, email, and in person.
You may have to "extract and document" information form the client that is needed to complete certain steps of the work.
Follow prescribed procedures
You need to be able to adapt to our procedures.
We have documented what to do and how to do it so that there is consistency in how our work is completed.
This is a MUST! You should already be using your personal computer on a daily basis.
We use the following programs.

We can train you but we need to know what you already know about the programs.
This is pretty much a MUST.
Bank reconciliations, payroll, payables, receivables, etc.
Much of what we do is maintained on this program.
Sometimes you need to use this program.
This is not a career job.
It is a part-time job.
The ideal candidate is semi-retired and looking to continue in their profession.
You will be assisting the CPAs in completing certain steps that are necessary to get a job done.
Pay is commensurate with experience.
It will be best for you to let us know approximately what your expected pay is.
We can then measure that against how well you meet the requirements.
We do have an office cat and dog.
The cat is always sleeping.
The dog is still energetic.
15-28 hours per week anticipated.
Monday Through Friday 9am--5pm
From January through May.
Monday Through Thursday 9am--5pm
From June through December.
If work is available and you have time, you are welcome to come in on Friday.
You can work with others in the office to coordinate your schedule so that the front office and phones are handled during above periods.
